Burruss Hall

The NC Triad Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association is pleased to announce our two recipients of the 2013 Chapter Scholarship.  The scholarship is a one-time award of $2,000 per recipient for the first year of studies at Virginia Tech.

The NC Triad Chapter region is sending twenty-seven new students to Blacksburg this year.  The applicants for this year’s scholarship are all highly accomplished students, both in the classroom and out of it.  Most students averaged well over 1750 SAT scores and GPA’s above 3.5 (on a weighted scale).

The recipients of this year’s scholarship are Ryan Furrow from High Point Central High School in High Point, NC and Allison Quinn of Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, NC.

Ryan is a graduate of High Point Central’s International Baccalaureate program.  The son of Roger and Rebecca Furrow, he lives in High Point.  During Ryan’s high school career, he was involved in the National Honor’s Society, Government School, Beta Boys State, and played Soccer.  He was ranked in the top 10% of his graduating class.  Ryan intends to major in Aerospace Engineering at Virginia Tech.

The NC Triad Chapter would like to thank all students for their interest in the Chapter Scholarship program and wishes everyone the best in their academic careers.  The Scholarship Committee had a very difficult decision in narrowing down such a wonderfully talented and accomplished group of applicants.

We look forward to seeing as many of our incoming students and their families as possible at our annual Send-off Picnic on August 8th at Triad Park.
